Solar garden lights are probably the most popular type of lighting that enters anyone’s mind when garden lighting is the topic. They can be used as accents throughout your garden. They can light up your pathway, enhance a rock garden or a particular plants. Or they can even be strategically placed in order to accentuate one outdoor room. Their lighting is soft and subtle and can set the right atmosphere just about anywhere. Now more than ever their convenience is second to none, as they are completely separate entities. They are not attached to a wire or anything, and therefore can be placed anywhere in your garden and in any shape you want.

Each of your outdoor rooms will probably require a different type or form of light. This will depend upon whether that particular room has a covering or not and of course, the style of that outdoor room. For instance, the kitchen area must be very well lit so that the person barbecuing has no trouble seeing what he or she is doing. Perhaps direct lighting such as spotlights would be suitable to this location. If you have a pergola, certainly that space covered by it has a certain function, therefore, it would be wise to purchase proper lighting for its function.

A couple years ago I went out for a walk after dark. It was lovely and it was just me and my dog. It was very interesting to note that about half the houses on the blocks we perused were using garden lights

and half of them weren’t.

Some were even using the solar variety. Can you imagine that? And can you guess which ones looked better? That’s right: the houses which were all lit up with solar garden lights were stunning in the midnight moon. They were very inviting.

On the contrary, I noticed that if I were a burglar I would’ve preferred to rob the houses that had no such exterior lighting. Those were easy targets. I took note of this and went and purchased some for myself the very next day. Lesson learned.
