Components of Hiking Shoes

The stitching of a hiking shoe helps to give it strength, so look for double-stitched seams when choosing hiking shoes. Put your hand inside the shoe and check for areas that could possibly rub your feet. Leather is a good material for hiking shoes but it should be the top grade of leather and also be flexible and soft for comfort. Some hiking shoes are made from new synthetic materials and they look more like a conventional running shoe than a hiking shoe.

Where the sole of your foot rests in the shoe is called the inner-sole and it needs to be seam-free and smooth. Additional padding or cushioning will give extra comfort when you are hiking; a leather inner-sole will help your feet breathe and keep cool.

Camping Cooking

Cooking when out in the woods camping can sometimes be a daunting task, especially for those people who are used to cooking in a nice, clean kitchen. But camping cooking doesn’t have to be a difficult process, and if you plan things out well, can even be a lot of fun.

The first thing to do is lower the difficulty of any meal that you’re planning on cooking. Don’t expect to be able to cook filet mignon, lobster or sushi when you’re out in the woods. Simple meals, such as hotdogs, hamburgers, and pancakes are the way to do.

One easy meal is to simply put some meat, potatoes and vegetables in a foil wrap and pop it on the edge of your campfire. In a couple of hours, you’ll have a nice, steamy hot meal.

Using Camping Tables

Of all the times that I’ve been camping, the one thing I always wished I had along was a good, sturdy camping table. There have been so many times I wished I had something to lay an item on, but have had to make do with a log or the ground.

The most common time to need a camping table is meal times. It’s difficult enough as it is cooking with a campfire and metal tongs, but not having somewhere to put a hot dish on or not being able to keep your utensils close can make the difference between good camp food and disaster. Camp tables also come in handy when you’re fishing, to put your tackle box and beverage on, and when you’re bird watching, to keep your binoculars and bird book at hand.

Some Considerations With Camping Tables

If you want to complete your collection of camping chairs with a nice table to go with it, there are a few things you should consider.

Of course, the first thing you should do is to find a chair that you feel comfortable in. It needs to have a height that fits your own height. A chair that fits you means that you can plant your whole foot on the ground at the same time as you have 90 degrees in your knees.

To find a table that matches the chairs is not difficult at all. The thing that is most important is that you can sit at an upright position when eating at the table. A good rule is to get a table in a height that gives you the ability to lay your underarms straight at the table while having 90 degrees in your elbows.
