I live in an area served by Charter cable. If you’re not familiar with Charter, consider yourself lucky. For the past three years, I’ve had a maximum of 30 HD channels with this outfit. Finally, after a poor conversation with one of their customer service reps regarding the lack of HD content, I decided to call DirecTV
. I was shocked to find out that they have more than 130 HD channels. Now you can’t actually get all of these in HD, as some are regional sports networks, and they also count their pay per view channels. But still, this absolutely destroyed Charter when it comes to HD. I signed up of course, and now this fall I will finally be enjoying the NFL package, once again in high definition.

Well its only another month or so until NFL training camps start up, and two months until the pre-season starts. If you have been considering a switch away from high cable TV prices, this is a good time of year to consider satellite TV. Of course you can go with either Dish Network or Direct TV. The big advantage Direct TV has over Dish Network is the NFL Sunday Ticket package, which is locked up with Direct TV until 2014. While details haven’t been released yet, last year if you paid for the NFL package, you got four months free of the top Direct TV package. I would expect a similar if not better promotion this year. The best thing to do is wait until training camp starts, then see exactly what promotion is being offered.
