Not all business gifts need to be boring.  When we say boring, we mean an engraved plaque or trophy.  Why not order something useful or beautiful that the employee will be happy with.  Giving business gifts that are more useful or beautiful are more worth it in the long run.  Even if you end up spending more of the budget that you first intended, the lasting effects on the employee are tremendous.  They will praise the company to their co-workers and show off their prize.  Their work may improve because there is incentive that more business gifts could be in the future.  As well, they will think better of you for it.  Not all useful business gifts are expensive.  You will find that there are totes, duffle bags, umbrellas and other such things which really do not cost a great fortune.  These items can include an embroidered or printed design or text on them and thus still be a way of promoting your company as well as keeping your employees satisfied.
