Acai and Oxidation

Oxidation is a naturally occurring process.  Basically, oxidation is anytime that oxygen combines with a substance.  For example the rust on your car or when a fruit becomes too ripe.  It also happens in your body and can be influenced by factors such as sun exposure, smoking, and other elements.  Oxidation can make you age quicker and even lead to cancer.  Acai and oxidation is worth mentioning because acai contains many powerful antioxidants that help combat oxidation.  These antioxidants help to protect and replace aging cells.  Acai berry fruit is full of nutrients and it is a great berry to add to your diet for many protective reasons as an anti-aging miracle.  Vitamins, essential omega fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals are packed into the tiny fruit.

Acai is the New Superfood

The widely discussed acai berry is the fruit of the acai palm. The acai palm has eight species of the plant that are native to Central and South America. This plant grows mainly is the swamps and foothills of South America. The fruit of the palm is the acai berry, a small, dark, round berry about 1 inch in diameter.

Acai has recently been marketed as the new superfood. Acai has mainly been marketed as a weight loss supplement and thus stemmed the popularity of acai. Other uses for the supplement are weight loss, skin rejuvenation, sexual enhancement, improved sleep, and as an antioxidant.

Acai has been proven to have higher antioxidant levels than cranberry, apple and orange juices but less than grape or blueberry juices.
