Steps to Conquer the Freeways
It is common to find people who are scared of driving on highways and freeways. Hundreds of people, or more, suffers from it. For some, it provides mere discomfort. As for other people, it deters them from traveling completely on freeways and this seriously limits the places that they can go to and things which they can do.
In order for you to overcome this particular fear of driving, you need to make several adjustments to your daily driving routine. Drive when the sun is out or during the day until you surpass this fear of yours. In general, nighttime is a lot terrifying to take a drive into as compared to daytime, so try to avoid it if you can.
This will gradually help you overcome your sense of fear of the freeways. You must also avoid taking a drive during rush hour and only attempt to drive whenever there is less traffic. Doing this will enable you to drive a whole lot easier and also lessen your driving anxiety.
However, you need to keep in mind that this is meant only for a time being, just until you overcome this highway fear of yours. Another thing, as much as possible, stay on the right side of the lane (or the left if you live in Australia, New Zealand, England and the like) and if there is no need for you to do so, do not attempt to overtake a fellow motorist.
This approach will make your travelling a bit time consuming, but so what? As long as you are safe, that is all that matters right? Besides, all that switching from one lane to the other is what makes freeway driving so terrifying in the first place. You can also take someone with you while you drive. The feeling that there is someone looking over you can make you feel more relaxed and at ease.
