Price Increases At Argos
Due to the weak trading position of the pound against the dollar, retailers like argos have seen their profits slashed. It is becoming more expensive to buy their stock in dollars and then sell them in pounds on the UK high street. Because of this, argos are having to increase some of their prices to offset these extra costs. They are not alone, and almost all the shopping retailers will be putting prices up in the near future.
Not all their goods will be affected, and to cushion the blow to their customers they are still offering big discounts on the budget ranges. The more expensive goods however, will be hit hardest as the profit margins on these need to maximised. The days of producing cheap goods in the far east is slowly coming to an end, so the warning is on its way.
