My Starbucks Challenge

I sat and just stared at the empty Starbucks cup.  I had promised myself that I wouldn’t drink coffee today no matter what happened.  The smell of yesterday’s coffee was still there.  I had suddenly turned into a bloodhound.  Maybe more like a coffee hound.  Picking the cup up, I noticed perhaps half an ounce of the dark brew just barely covering the white porcelain bottom of the vessel.  My hand instinctively swirled the cold brew around the edges of the cup in a constant circle.

There was no real reason for torturing myself like this.  It was just a control issue.  I couldn’t stand the feeling of dependence on a silly drink.  My toes were tapping nervously and I had to force myself to stand and throw the cup into the garbage.  I went outside to go for a walk, but I knew before I ever left my porch that my feet would guide me to the coffee shop down the street.  You can read more about odd things like coffee cups at Second Hand Sale.
