The island of Rarotonga is a perfect circle of rock, the centre a volcanic peak draped in dense green jungle running down to the beach of white sands lapped by blue seas.

Cook Islanders have established a welcoming reputation, and with just 80,000 visitors a year passing through the capital island of Rarotonga, the island offers a true South Pacific honeymoon.

Just 32 kilometres in circumference, the island is easy to get around whether it’s by rental car, scooter, the ‘island bus’ or even an off-road jeep. The charming capital, Avarua, is a small but well formed town that truly works on island time. Friday is party night and Rarotonga’s bars keep going till 2am, so get down to Avarua for a cocktail and dance the night away.

The most popular beach in Rarotonga is Muri Beach, set on the stunning Muri Lagoon. Many resorts perch somewhere along the lagoon’s edge, and offer visitors breathtakingly beautiful views.

The friendliness and charm of it’s people coupled with the extremely relaxed pace that visitors quickly become accustomed to, means a love affair with Rarotonga becomes a lifelong one.
