Guitar Hero Makers Looking at Making Project Natal Games

Activision, who are the makers of the extremely popular Guitar Hero video game for the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360, are looking at the new technology that Xbox’s upcoming Project Natal brings, and they say that they are very interested in making some Project Natal games.

What Project Natal does is uses two types of cameras, one infrared camera to judge distance, and a regular camera to record the motions of a player.  Combining these two cameras allows the Project Natal, an upcoming accessory for the Xbox 360 that is due at the end of 2010, to be able to judge distance and movement, and it registers those movements.  The possibilities of this are endless.  It allows you to hold an invisible steering wheel on a Nascar racing game to drive around the track…. when it’s time to come in for a pit stop, you can mimic the motions of changing the tire, and the screen will read your movements!

Imagine how thiswill be able to be implemented in music games.  Finally, I’ll be able to play my recorder on Rock band…
