Do it Yourself Black Mold Removal

With the economy still at a stand still, it’s not uncommon for many homeowners to consider do it yourself projects like black mold removal because it’s much more reasonable when it comes to the pocketbook.

But, if you’re going to remove mold on your own, you’ll want to handle things with extreme caution and take these steps to make sure your at-home project goes smoothly.

Step 1 – You will need to locate the area where the mold has grown. It may be obvious or it may be hidden. The best way to find the area is to look for moisture.

Step 2 – If there is a lot of moisture in the area where the mold is present, you may want to consider purchasing a dehumidifier to help dry out the room.

Step 3 – To prevent spores from becoming airborne and causing more problems, you’ll need to spray a light mist of water on the affected area.

Step 4 – Clean the affected area with a mild dish detergent or soap to remove the visible layer of mold and any dirt that is lurking on the surface.

Step 5 – Apply a product of your choice that is made specifically for black mold removal and then pat yourself on the back because you just finished a do it yourself project!
