Choosing a Table Lamp

Most living rooms can accomodate table lamps that range anywhere from 26 up to 34 inches in height.  But you definitely do not want to be looking up at the lamp’s hardware.  To figure out if your lamp is the right height for a particular table, just sit down on the couch or the chair beside it. The bottom of the lampshade should not be any higher than your eye level.Even if your lamp has a skinny base, it needs to be substantial enought so that someone can’t knock it over easily if they brush against it.  In terms of placement, every room needs a source of light around every 10 feet. If your table lamp is placed between a couch and a chair, you might want one with thin or see-trough base. That way your line of sight remains free and it’s easy to have a conversation.
