Flatware Chest Information

The following section is directed at the designers of flatware storage chests. As soon as you have chosen your piece, collected your flatware and articulated your final decision…it’s time to get started! When you first take a look at your chest, be sure to listen carefully at the sound it makes as you handle it ( this may not sound important, or even reasonable but trust me, it’s good to know ) as to prepare yourself to what kind of work you may end up doing, if it makes a loud creaking noise as you handle it…prepare for a long day as much detail work will be required. Once you have inspected your chest ( cracks, bumps, sounds, and fade ) it’s time to start off with the proper buffering ( that would be the aforementioned paste wax ) then the right paint, now be sure to pay attention to the fade of the wood as the lightly tinted areas will likely deteriorate your paintings. After you have painted your masterpiece, allow several hours to dry before handling. For the truly bold, I would recommend carving it to truly put the coup de grace in your work…good luck and let those great ideas flow!
